# 4 Back to work..

This weekend was my first weekend off, since I started this new job of mine.
I can't tell you how good it feels that the season is finally over!
And, even better, I got my salary..
So I went to my local game shop and bought Guitar Hero III and Super Mario Galaxy..
Guitar Hero's too short though, only got 3 songs left on hard and 10 on expert... =_=
That Slayer song though... gaah. >_<

..::..

I tried installing SL on my office computer, turned out that the graphics card in this piece of junk ain't good enough for me to be able to play the game. =_=

Ah well maybe it's for the best, right? ^^

I mean if I'm gonna keep this job of mine for more than 10 min (If my boss found out that I was playing a game I'd get sacked asap.)

..::..

Ok I gotta get back to work now..
Later!

# 3 Let there be light!

Since SL is up and running again I thought it would be a good idea to show you how to make some stuff. :)

It's coming on christmas here and the days keep getting shorter, so I believe I'm going to show you how to light up your Second Life with some touch on-off lights for your home.
I'll be selling theese later on my SLexchange account if you can't be bothered making them yourself.

The lights I'm going to make are very simple to put together, 3 prims and they can be modified to suit your taste. As I mentioned earlier they have a on-off on touch script in them and it's very important to link the lamp the right way to ensure you can click it anywhere to turn it on.
But I'll show you that later.

This is what they'll look like.

And it can be varied in oh so many ways..

So how do you make this light shine??

The trick is to insert a touch on-off light script into the black top prim (or any of the prims really) , the script I use is made by 2fast4u Nabob, thank you, and it can be found HERE

He's got two scripts on this page, I prefer to use the later one.
Anyway just copy the script (inbetween the
and
marks!!!) and put it all in a "new script" under the contents tab of the black top prim. (clear the "new script" out first..)

Ok.. now when you touch the black prim, you will find that it glows! ^^

The other two prims I use, the lampshade and the sculpty prim are just decorative really.

To make the lampshade I use a "RING" prim, I hollow it out under the object tab and put the B profile cut to 0.500 then I change the outer texture to some texture I have with bits of alpha "see through" texture in it.. wich could be a railing or a metallic grid anything you got. Then I use a different texture for the inside, preferably white wedding lace and then change the color of it.
puh.. did you get all that?

The sculpty prim is a freebie called "pole" that I found.

..::..

When you are happy with your design it's time to link the prim.
To make the whole lamp touch sensitive you have to link the Black prim containing the script last. In other words.. right click the lampshade and press EDIT.. now, hold down Shift and click every other part of your lamp but save the scripted prim for last!
When all of them are marked release Shift and press Ctrl + L to link them.

If all goes well the Scripted prim will have a yellow outlining while all the other ones have blue outlines.

..::..

Great now you have your very own lamp to light up your day!

Untill next time.

# 2 SL Login issues

... all the waiting, hoping, longing.

Can the Ops team please fix the login soon.
All the addicts are in pain.

..::..

LOL

Actually this is a good time to maybe make a little list of things you COULD do if you werent too busy playing SL.

1. Go outside!

2. Clean the appartment (including the cat-box)

3. Play a video game (...for once)

4. Do some grocery shopping and make a lovely dinner for yourself.

5. Play hide and seek.

6. Water your dried out plants.

7. Read a book.

8. Try actually working while at work...

9. Go streaking.

10. Book some festival tickets for the upcoming summer. (Schedual SL-afk time? Am I insane?)

..::..

And if none of the above options suit you, and you just can't find anything better to do..
Here are some SL related things to do, to keep the SL abstinence at bay.

..::..

1. Go to the SL homepage and look at all the photos in the SL community.

2. Update the SL maintenance blog over and over and over again.

3. Learn something new about SL on the SL wiki page.

4. Try sculpting objects using the sculptypaint program. (It will keep you occupied)

5. Write in your blog.

6. Read other peoples blogs.

7. Visit SLexchange and take a look through every FREE object in the directory.

8. Close your eyes and try to imagine yourself in the new WindLight release of the game.. (it's gonna be sweet)

9. Try to figure out (with a pen and paper) how to build a house using as few prims as possible.

10. Go to sleep for a few hours, dream about SL, then try a relog as soon as you wake up. If it still doesn't work repeat the sleeping over and over and over again.

..::..

There, I hope that gives you something to do while waiting.
As for me I'm going to go out and have something to eat... Burger King maybe, or Sushi... Oh yeah.. sushi. *Homer drool + sound*

*Darn, the spell checker doesn't work.. ah well*

Take care!

# 1 BioBlogPost

I woke up this morning with this genius idea!
- How about documenting my Second Life in yet another BLOG!?
I mean it's wicked, I can do it all while I'm at work and I won't have to feel the SL abstinence as bad. (^.^) yea

So I did it, in fact I created two blogs, one for me and one for my in game company
Psycho Panda Corp.

Now, enough RL, let me tell you some of my SL adventures...

..::..

I've had a few characters in my SL days, I change characters when I'm bored of them or when I haven't managed to make enough money in short enough time. (I'm impatient like that)
This one started like any new character would.. ugly, poor and totally anonymous!!
So I did like I should and searched for "freebies" in the search window to gear my new avatar with some cool, slightly less anonymous stuff.

Freebie Spots worth visiting: Freebie beach, Freebie Union, Sarah Nerds', Yadni Junkyard etc...
Builder necessities: Megaprims, 10.000 textures box, "Builders' Buddy", various scripts.

And when I finished my little shopping spree without spending a dime I took off to the nearest sandbox to build a house!

Now this is where my story begins, all because a stranger asked me... to be his daughter.

..::..

-Wow, now that's dramatic! (not) What a story.. (I'm getting out of this blog right now)

Well it might not be much, but it was enough for me to strip all my other avatars of their money, various objects, scripts and other useful things that I've been collecting.
Sort of packing my bags and moving it all over to this little avatar.

..::..

My new dad teleported me over to his land and asked me if I'd like a small part of it, 40 prims or so, to do whatever I wanted with.
The possibilities were endless! But I decided to settle for a small platform 500m up in the air to host my very own slexchange black box, and start a shop of my own to sell my trinkets and houses. Thus Psycho Panda Corp. was born.
To get up to my platform I first had to buy a flying device.
Then I rezzed my black box and filled it with some houses. ^^ A good start.

Next I had to change my appearance a little and become an 8 year old girl.
I bought an avatar called Loli and then went shopping again.
A good place I found was Omni Corporation. A sim with sci-fi stuff and clothes that were rather cheap. A skirt, tights and a set of hair later and tahdaah!

So I guess that's it..

Next time I'll describe how to pack houses using a freebie script called "Builders' Buddy"
Show you a little about scripting doors and windows and other useful things.

See ya!
